Behind the Scenes - Sun Dance Shoot

Behind the Scenes - Sun Dance Shoot
Sunday the 6th October, 2018

After leaving Adelaide and moving to Sydney, I left behind my family, friends and community to help grow my brand and keep pursing my design career.

Not having the time or money to launch new collections and still trying to build a name for the label, I needed fresh content and so started to work the new connections I was making and also reached out to old friends to see how they could help.

Working in fashion at the time, I was fortunate enough to secure some work for my favourite photographer who came over to Sydney to complete the job. At the same time she put her hand up to do a shoot for me as a thank you. Through a work colleague and friend a secured the beautiful model used for this campaign and I did a call out on social media for hair and make-up and found the talented Lily. It took some time but I pulled together my first Sydney team for my first ever Sydney photoshoot. If there is one thing running a new brand will teach you, that is resourcefulness.

This shoot needed to be beachy, it needed to capture those sunny, summer Sydney vibes and so, of course, the morning of the shoot, it decided to be cold, grey and threatening to rain. We persisted, however, and about 30min into hair and make-up the sun broke through the clouds over Maroubra Beach and, while it was still cold, we had the summer sunshine we needed.

Combining my two collections, the shoot was styled using swimwear from the Adelaide label Koleha who was generous enough to send me some looks that perfectly added to the summer look we were after. A huge thanks to Bry who modelled like it was 30 degrees when really it would have been lucky to be 20 degrees with a wind chill factor that had me running to get us coffees and hot chocolates every 45 minutes.

Once again, I cannot thank this incredible team enough for their hard work and dedication, despite the weather, to create such incredible images to help me showcase my label. It was such a thrill to bring an Of Dreamers and Dancers shoot to life in my new found city of Sydney and I couldn't have asked for better people by my side.
